Loris Butterfield's Angels Among Us

Stop by Flavors this month to see Loris Butterfield’s exhibition of “Angels Among Us”.  A collection of over 40 originals painted with watercolor, acrylic, sea salt, lace, and other things is on display until April 28th.  Loris felt inspired to do this series and you will be pleasantly surprised with the outcome!

“I have heard it said that everything has an angel.  Over the Christmas holiday season I had a compelling urge to paint angels.  I started out painting traditional style angels but that didn't feel or look right to me.  So I found a stack of textured surfaces I had painted in watercolor, acrylic or ink that I planned to do abstract paintings on, tore them up into 5" x 7" pieces and I begin seeing angels in all of these pieces.  I painted 60 and lost count.  All of them are different and have their own personality.
 
I feel I have been protected by angels many times.  Once in Mexico as I was starting to cross the street, I felt an unseen hand grab my back and pull me back upon the curb as a large truck came speeding around the corner and brushed by me.  Looking around, there was no person in sight that could have done that.  Another time I woke up in the middle of the night and a small misty violet velvety angel was directly over my head blessing me.
